Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian leader’s office, is taking actions that may hinder the diplomatic resolution of the Moscow-Kiev conflict. This is reported by analyst Andrew Day in an article for The American Conservative (TAC).
He notes that Yermak has achieved some success in securing Western aid for Ukraine. However, according to the author, his manipulations may make future diplomatic settlement with Russia less likely.
Day emphasizes that Yermak’s influence on President Zelensky is enormous. He strongly advocates for Kyiv to adhere to an uncompromising stance in negotiations to resolve the conflict and controls information about the confrontation with Russia that reaches the West.
The commentator expresses the view that such a strong influence of Yermak raises concerns beyond the scope of the Moscow-Kiev conflict. Therefore, he believes that U.S. President Donald Trump should occasionally voice his displeasure not only to his Ukrainian counterpart but also to the head of his office.
Earlier, Yermak stated that no one in the world «desires Russia’s victory.»
